BREAKING: Golden State Warriors have signed Kevin Knox to their vacant roster spot for a 10-day contract. …

Posted on February 15, 2025

In a strategic move to bolster their roster depth, the Golden State Warriors have signed forward Kevin Knox II to a 10-day contract, filling their vacant roster spot. This decision comes as the team aims to enhance its performance during a critical stretch of the 2024-2025 NBA season.

Kevin Knox, a 6-foot-7 forward, was originally selected as the ninth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks. Despite a promising start, his tenure with the Knicks was marked by inconsistency, leading to a mid-season trade to the Atlanta Hawks during the 2021-2022 season. Knox’s journey continued with stints at the Detroit Pistons and the Portland Trail Blazers, where he sought to find a stable role and showcase his potential.

In September 2024, Knox signed a one-year deal with the Warriors, aiming to secure a permanent spot on the team. During the preseason, he participated in two games, averaging 3.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks over 7.4 minutes per game. Despite these contributions, the Warriors waived Knox on October 19, 2024, as they finalized their roster for the season.

The decision to bring Knox back on a 10-day contract indicates the Warriors’ continued interest in his abilities and potential fit within their system. Head Coach Steve Kerr has emphasized the importance of depth and versatility, especially as the team navigates injuries and the demanding schedule of the NBA season. Knox’s size and skill set offer the Warriors additional options in their forward rotation, providing both defensive capabilities and offensive spacing.

For Knox, this contract represents another opportunity to prove himself and earn a more permanent role in the league. His previous experiences across multiple teams have equipped him with a diverse understanding of different playing styles and systems. Integrating into the Warriors’ dynamic and fast-paced offense could be the catalyst for revitalizing his career.

As the Warriors prepare for upcoming games, including a matchup against the Sacramento Kings on February 21, 2025, Knox’s performance during this 10-day period will be closely monitored. Success in this stint could lead to an extended contract and a more defined role as the team pushes towards the playoffs.

In summary, the Warriors’ decision to sign Kevin Knox II to a 10-day contract reflects a strategic effort to enhance roster flexibility and performance. Both the team and Knox stand to benefit from this arrangement, with the potential for a mutually rewarding partnership as the season progresses.
