Nebraska Men’s Basketball to Compete in College Basketball Crown Tournament

Posted on March 19, 2025

The Nebraska Cornhuskers men’s basketball team is set to extend its season by competing in the College Basketball Crown (CBC) Tournament, following a strong 2024-25 campaign. Despite narrowly missing out on an NCAA Tournament bid, the Huskers will have an opportunity to showcase their talent in this postseason event, starting with a first-round matchup against Arizona State.

Nebraska, led by head coach Fred Hoiberg, finished the season with a 21-12 record, marking one of its best performances in recent years. The team showed flashes of brilliance throughout the Big Ten season but fell short in the conference tournament, leaving them on the bubble for an NCAA berth. Now, the Huskers turn their attention to the CBC Tournament, a relatively new postseason competition featuring top teams that did not make the NCAA or NIT fields.

The first-round matchup against Arizona State, a Pac-12 powerhouse, will be a tough test. The Sun Devils boast a high-tempo offense and aggressive defense, setting the stage for an exciting clash. Nebraska will rely on star players Keisei Tominaga and Brice Williams to lead the way. Tominaga, a sharpshooter known for his deep-range accuracy, has been the Huskers’ offensive spark, while Williams provides versatility on both ends of the floor.

Coach Hoiberg emphasized the importance of this opportunity, stating, “We’re excited to keep playing and compete at a high level. Our guys have worked hard all season, and this tournament gives us a chance to finish strong.”

A deep run in the CBC Tournament could provide Nebraska valuable experience and momentum heading into next season. Fans will be eager to see if the Huskers can make a statement in the postseason.
