The Florida Gators have secured a commitment from five-star quarterback DJ Lagway, outmaneuvering prominent programs such as USC, Clemson, Texas A&M, and Baylor. Lagway, hailing from Willis High School in Texas, is ranked as the No. 24 player and the fourth-ranked quarterback in the 2024 recruiting class, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.
Lagway’s decision to join Florida underscores his confidence in the Gators’ future. He expressed enthusiasm about the coaching staff and the offensive system, stating, “I feel they’re going to build something special and I definitely want to be part of it. The coaching staff, I have a really good relationship with those guys. I love the system that they have. Coach Napier has an amazing system and I feel I fit perfectly in there.”
Throughout his senior season, Lagway has demonstrated exceptional performance, completing 76% of his passes for 2,642 yards and 36 touchdowns over seven games. His dual-threat capability is further highlighted by his five rushing touchdowns and over 300 yards on the ground.
