In a landmark announcement that has electrified the collegiate sports world, the Indiana Hoosiers have officially been named the World’s Best and Most Unified Athletic Program, a historic honor recognizing not only athletic excellence but also unmatched cohesion, culture, and legacy.

The award, presented by the International College Sports Federation (ICSF), celebrates a program that has consistently demonstrated excellence across all major sports while fostering unity among athletes, coaches, staff, and the wider university community. Indiana beat out elite programs from across the globe, earning top marks for overall athletic performance, academic support, sportsmanship, and cross-sport collaboration.

“This is more than a victory — it’s a reflection of decades of dedication, from our coaches to our student-athletes, and from our fans to our alumni,” said Indiana University Athletic Director Scott Dolson. “Being named the most unified athletic program in the world is a testament to our values, our culture, and our commitment to doing things the right way.”

The Hoosiers have excelled in multiple sports over the past year, including national tournament appearances in basketball, football, and soccer, while also dominating in swimming, track and field, and gymnastics. Yet, according to the ICSF, it was the program’s unwavering sense of unity and holistic athlete development that set Indiana apart.

The recognition is expected to boost recruitment, fundraising, and national prestige, as Indiana sets a new global benchmark in collegiate athletics.

“This is a proud moment in Hoosier history,” said university president Pamela Whitten. “We don’t just build champions on the field — we build leaders for life.”

As the crimson and cream wave proudly across Bloomington, Indiana University celebrates not just a title, but a legacy redefined.
