Heinrich Haarberg, once a promising quarterback for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, is now turning heads in his new role as a tight end for the team. Known for his athleticism and versatility, Haarberg’s position switch has become one of the most talked-about developments in Nebraska football leading into the 2025 season.
A Kearney Catholic High School standout and Nebraska native, Haarberg arrived in Lincoln with hopes of becoming a leading signal-caller. He saw time under center during the 2023 season, showcasing flashes of potential with his mobility and arm strength. However, as the quarterback competition grew stiffer and team needs evolved, Haarberg made the selfless and strategic decision to shift to tight end—a move welcomed by coaches and teammates alike.
“I just want to help this team win,” Haarberg said in a recent interview. “If that means playing tight end, then I’ll give it everything I’ve got.”
Spring practices have shown that Haarberg’s transition is already yielding positive results. His size, speed, and quarterback instincts give him a unique advantage in understanding offensive schemes and finding open space.
