As the Florida State Seminoles softball team continues to dominate the 2025 season, Head Coach Lonni Alameda remains the driving force behind their success, blending elite coaching with a deep commitment to her players’ growth on and off the field.
Now in her 17th season at Florida State, Alameda has built a program defined not only by championships and national acclaim, but also by culture, unity, and resilience. With over 800 career wins, a 2018 national title, and multiple ACC championships under her belt, Alameda is widely respected as one of the premier coaches in collegiate softball.
This season, the Seminoles finished with a stellar 49–10 record and claimed the ACC regular season title. Alameda’s leadership has been especially meaningful in 2025 as she continues to coach while undergoing treatment for breast cancer—a battle she publicly shared in March. Her strength in the face of personal adversity has further bonded the team, who wear pink armbands in her honor and have initiated fundraising campaigns for breast cancer awareness.
Players consistently praise Alameda for her authenticity, mentorship, and belief in developing the whole person—not just the athlete. “She pushes us to be our best, not just in softball but in life,” said senior catcher Michaela Edenfield. “She believes in us, and we believe in her.”
