BREAKING NEWS: Razorbacks’ Rodney Hill and Selman Bridges Invest $5.7M to Convert Mansion Into Homeless Shelter in Arkansas
FAYETTEVILLE, AR — In a remarkable act of generosity and community spirit, Arkansas Razorbacks football standouts Rodney Hill and Selman Bridges have announced a $5.7 million investment to convert a private estate into a state-of-the-art shelter for the homeless. The pair, both rising stars on the team and respected voices off the field, revealed their plans during a press conference Tuesday afternoon, drawing praise from local leaders and fans alike.
The shelter, to be named “The Bridge House,” will be located just outside downtown Little Rock and is set to provide housing, meals, mental health support, job training, and rehabilitation services to more than 150 individuals at a time. The decision comes in response to the growing homelessness crisis in Arkansas, where many are struggling with housing insecurity amid rising costs and limited resources.
“We’ve been blessed with opportunities,” said Hill, a junior running back. “Now it’s time to be a blessing to others. This isn’t about fame or football. It’s about humanity.”
Bridges, a sophomore cornerback, added, “We want to use our platform to make real change. People are hurting out there, and we have a chance to help.”
The project is expected to be completed within the next 12 months. The two athletes have partnered with local nonprofits and housing experts to ensure the shelter meets both immediate and long-term needs.
University of Arkansas officials and Razorbacks head coach Sam Pittman expressed pride in the players’ actions. “This is leadership at its finest,” Pittman said.
Hill and Bridges’ initiative sets a powerful example, proving that true champions make an impact far beyond
the gridiron.
