Aiden Williams, a former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman, has signed with the Carolina Panthers practice squad.
Williams signed as an undrafted free agent with the Steelers and was briefly assigned to their practice squad before being released.
He tried out for the Browns in September but was not signed, and he believes the Panthers will be a long-term home for him in the NFL after battling to find one in the previous month.
He had a knee injury during training camp, forcing him to miss substantial time, including the final two preseason games.
Williams attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth, a Division II institution.
Williams played basketball in high school and was more of a tight end than tackle at the time. He grew into his frame, reaching 6-foot-5 and 315 pounds. Williams ran a 5.17 40-yard sprint with a 1.75 10-yard split during his pro day.
Williams benched 27 reps and had a vertical of 30 inches and a broad jump of 8 feet and 10 inches. He can play guard or tackle and has experience on both sides of the offensive line while at Minnesota-Duluth.
